Surgical practice usually separates between imaging and intervention: i.e. a surgeon has to apply a CT scan to the patient's anatomy cognitively. With spatial and embodied computing we seek to bring digital and physical environments into one big picture. In a series of case studies we explore how new sensing, imaging and display technologies create new opportunities for surgical practice and education. In order to create such an mixed reality (#MR) we collaborate with disciplines such as game design, computer science, media studies and engineering in order to shape the next generation of human machine cooperation.
