To improve the prognosis of cancer patients, the identification of reliable prognostic factors and new therapeutic targets is crucial. Tumor specific gene-expression, metabolic pathways and signal transduction have been elucidated and are the basis for new diagnostic procedures and cancer therapeutic concepts. This Division performs laboratory-based research focussing on characterization and modulation of progenitor signaling pathways in hepato-biliary and pancreatic cancer.
